Completed week 4 of Stanford's machine learning course ... still hanging in there :)

I just completed week 4 of the coursera course I'm doing on machine learning. It's really interesting stuff and I can highly recommend it! Here's the link

Programming vectorized solutions makes my brain hurt a bit, but it's all good. This week's exercise was to use a neural network to recognize handwriting.

Completed week 1 of Coursera Machine Learning course from Stanford

After having attended the Machine Learning meetup, I was curious to know more about this field, since I know only very little about data science.

Pluralsight doesn't provide a lot of videos on this topic and I remember the speaker at the meetup mention a coursera course.

So today I had some time on my hands and went for it. Week 1 is complete.

It looks VERY promising. I really like the way these coursera courses work where during the video you get quick tests and after a 'module' you get a quiz.

The instructor makes this very clear - I'm just unsure how I'll deal with the deadlines of the coming weeks...

Attended my first meetup: Deep Learning on the JVM and Feeding the Second Screen

I attended my first meetup last tuesday here in Amstedam, from the Amsterdam Applied Machine Learning Meetup Group.

There were 2 talks given about machine learning: one from commercial company and one from an academic party. It was very interesting and know I know that I only know very little. So I'll have to work on that!

If you're in the Amsterdam area and interested in machine learning - sign up! It's very well organised and very interesting. Check it out here.
